To stop go into services, find "Windows Media Player Network sharing Service", right-click = Properties; set to manual start. Actually, I think I saw the same thing as Bob above, who reported that somehow W7 changed an explicit setting of Manual start to Delayed Automatic. You might need to unselect windows media library also, not sure.
