Thanks for the help. Now scroll down until you see the Windows Update service, right-click on it and choose Stop. Is there a different comparable update for 64 bit OS or is there a different problem? and it fixed a couple of things but didn't fix error code 0X80070057 4.

  • When you are done, it will ask you to do another restart, but you can actually finish several downloads before you do the restart.

Windows Vista just won't install updates Someone else said it, and I will agree with them... Came across this site and tried it because it looked like something even I could handle.
