In talking with friends, we think it might be a problem with one of the "Windows updates." Couldn't find a solution there anywhere!!! To close this wizard, click Finish.This happened after installing some optional windows updates related to amongst others my cd/dvd burner. Yes, the player works (again this is a problem on both my laptop and desktop - and I have had this problem for years, on different computers).
- sometimes i have found that even though i use one specific makers disc the write speed just wont match it.

- Right now i am using CDBurnerXP Pro 3 (please, no more comments and suggestions about the burner - I have used them all and the burner s/w is not the problem!).

- If you feel mechanically inclined, here's what you can try: I'm guessing the CD-Rom drive is an IDE drive.
- I tried this: -> Go to the property of the CD/DVD burning drive: (1)click AUTO PLAY TAB; (2)SELECT BLANK CD; (3) Put a check on "PROMPT ME EACH TIME TO CLOSE

Always on Win-XP Home edition. Also, from doing a lot of research on the web, it seems this is quite a common problem for a whole lot of people. Searches on Google indicate other users having the problem with CD Writing Wizard in SP2, (also Burn function in Windows Media Player 9/10 fails with a similar error. I am able to read other disks, and write abotu 40% of the time (it's like a slot machine). The listings for those with the same problem appear to be unsolved. Please start a New Thread if you're having a similar issue.View our Welcome Guide to learn how to use this site.
On my machine, the problem was an improperly registered Ole32.dll file.
If it is Nero software, you may have to play with various settings. I inserted the System CD and the Recovery CD. I set recovery for 1st, 2nd & 3rd to "restart the service". When you say "deinstall SP2" do you mean for good or can I reinstall it after I fix the problem?
When have you DL'ed the latest drivers from the hardware vendor? then after 10-15 mins I get the message "Cannot Complete the CD Writing Wizard" ..
