I have run Ad-aware, spybot S&D, Adware Away, CW Shredder, BitDefender Virus Scan. When I get in, it gives me 2 choices -- Start hardware diagnostics or Start PC Recovery. When I tell it to start up in the Recovery Console it gives me a blue screen with the error message UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME and STOP: 0x000000ED (0x856CC9E0, 0xC0000006, 0x0000000, 0x0000000). - If there is data in a damaged area you will just loose it and not the entire drive, which may happen during an attempted recovery.
- The old drive is a seagate 200g sata drive and I'm putting in a 200g wd ide drive.

There is nothing that can be done. Please make sure you have a set of HP Recovery Disc for your computer and replace the hard drive as soon as possible. I burned these recovery disks from this pc (hp a1600n) about one month after I bought it (13 months ago!). Check This Out I'm not a big tech person, but I can at least keep [bleep] straight on my own PC.

General data recovery methods: *IMPORTANT* - If there is any question that the drive is at fault - it's making noises for instance - and the data is crucial DO NOTHING I suggest you try this... The fact you ran CCleaner before this happened is co-incidence, hard drives are mechanical devices and they wear out just like the clutch does on your car. Trying to clean up my sister-in-laws pc.
