It is now a 5 gig hd with fat32. I have also had to slip a different XP disk that the system could read the necessary file(s) from into the CDROM and continue loading!. I just got done with the exhaustion of figuring out what was going on with the windows install. Please try again now or at a later time. Success. But if it won't, you can follow also what mike1959 has said.. In my case, I switched XP disks and got a full install that is just finishing as I type this. But, i have tried Windows XP Pro as well as Windows Server 2003 Evaluation that i have and i recieve errors of the same degree that you are recieving on both
- If this fails then as mentioned above time for new RAM.
- This rules out a fault with my CD RW.

- I don't know how this worked but I first partitioned it with FAT as the file system and then reformated again with ntfs.

Anyway often the file that was transferring when the PC crashed was the SATA drivers from the floppy.
